PREdiCCt
The Prognostic effect of environmental factors in Crohn’s and Colitis

Cure Crohn’s Colitis committed £125,000 to the ambitious and innovative PREdiCCt study, based at the University of Edinburgh, the first of its kind specifically directed towards the understanding of how diet, lifestyle and gut bacteria influence flares and recovery in Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

More than 2,600 participants in remission from IBD have been recruited across the UK and over two years, researchers have been collecting data on the food they ate, their lifestyle and gut bacteria. Comparisons were examined if someone experienced a flare to aim to ascertain how the environmental and bacteria factors recorded differed from those who remained in remission.

The data collected is now in the final stage of being analysed.
